     Three goals and two points in a devastating opening five minutes paved the way for an easy 16 point winning margin for james Stephens who beat the Fenians by 8-5 to 2-7 in the 1969 county final at Nowlan Park. The game was not played until April 19, 1970.
    A crowd of between 10,000 and 12,000 sawjames Stephens turn in a dazzling performance. Thejohnstown side never recovered from the sensational opening blitz and having led by 5-2 to 1-4 at half time the winners coasted to victory at their case in the second half.
